What is love?

LOVE

We sometimes mistake love for obsession, admiration, infatuation and lust. We all do, It hurts to love the right way, and so we hide behind a facade and say “I am only human after all”.

When you say love, what do you mean by that, What comes to your mind and heart when you’re told you are loved?

When you feel loved, Is there a sensation you get?
Does your inside get all mushy and do you get butterflies in your belly? What makes you identify love? Is there really true love and a fake one?
Is love possessive? Does it ever feel a tinge of jealousy? Just may be a little. How on earth can I even love? It feels so complicated and impossible!

We wage war against the truth, and we know that truth. We can give out love, but we’re just too busy to give it, Just too selfish to send it abroad, too self centered to care genuinely for another.

Just too much of a perfectionist to admit our love can be flawed, too discontented that we’re never satisfied with what we have.

Just too wounded and unwilling to heal.
We have put limitations and walls to the love we offer. We say it boldly that we love them, but can we let our love get tested?
Can we sacrifice for the one we love? It doesn’t have to be money. Can you sacrifice your own desires, and needs just for the one, you love? Can we place their tired state above ours?

What is love?

Most of us, I inclusive, try hard to show how much we love a person. Our actions would prove it not just our words. The decision to let a person be can be hard, but love would, if it needs be.

I strongly believe in God and His love for all, and so I’ll go by His word on how love ought to be.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle.
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others. Doesn’t revel when others grovel.
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth.
Puts up with anything.
Trusts God always.
Always looks for the best, always believes the best.
Never looks back, but keeps going to the end. Love never dies.

Did you just see all that love is to be? You should go back and read through.
Love isn’t so easy. It bruises, it wounds, it hurts, not because it’s mean or evil but because it’s a mountain we have to climb. Something out of our human reach that we have to keep pressing for it to be.

Love isn’t comfort. It gives comfort at a serious cost. You don’t think so? Think of Christ bruised and nailed on the cross for you and I. That’s what love should be.
You only give what you have on the within. Until you have God’s love flowing without restrains on your inside, then you’ll be able to give it out freely.

You don’t hold on so tightly to the one you love. You love them, still you give them the choice to love you back. Love isn’t forced. It respects the other’s choice.

  3. It always seems impossible to love especially when it comes to loving people that doesn't deserve our love but we must always be reminded that Christ poured his love on us even while we were yet sinners and we are to be an outstretched arm of God's love
    Thanks for this reminder ma
